Is this foot bad? It doesn't look great. Acting as normal and not showing any pain to stand on it.

Thank you for any help you can give.

Ali :)

The bit by the toe looks like a scab? The whiteblob looks abnormal too.

I haven't noticed until looking at a close up picture, as I can't get close enough to see small things like this as they are not tame and only came home recently

If it is mites, you would probably need to treat every one in the aviary.

Yeah. Would they need vet treatment, or that spray?

Notice I put question marks after ' mites". That means I don't know, so you probably need advice from one of the little bird people.

I have never seen it on any of my birds before. I'll see what others say and make a judgement call of what to do then.

I'm not sure what it is but wanted to say a woman on a forum I used to belong to once used mite spray on some wild baby birds she was trying to help and it killed them. I don't know if it had to do with the brand, that they were wild birds, etc but I always advise against using a spray because of that and seeing a vet instead.

Definitely get your vet to take a look.
Could be scaly mite or some other infection, best have a professional take a good look and give you the meds your bird will need.

Scaly mites,, and hopefully if this was a new bird the quarantine protocol would cover it anyway.

By the time we see scaly mites, the bird has had them a very long time.
More info:

Please, please do not put oil on it, no matter how many 'experts' on a forum tell you to do so. Use moxidectin or ivermectin. Follow the directions on the package.
Some people take a cotton bud and dab S76 on it (undiluted) but I still think using it according to package directions is best.

If it were my bird, I would treat the whole aviary (assuming vet thinks it is mites.) See if any beaks look odd, scaly mites attack feet and beaks.

I know you're not in US, here are the meds I'd use (or you could ask that expert I sent you to!)

Avian Insect Liquidator - an aviary spray. Spray everywhere, all cracks, nooks, crannies, nests.

SCATT which is moxidectin, on the birdsd day 1 and day 21. It stays in the system 3 weeks. By doing a 2nd dose you are killing all larvae and adults. If you forget the 2nd dose you pretty much have to start over.
Spray AIL again in the environment.

This is going to be fun...

Catching 11 birds in 15 cubic meters of open aviary. They were hard enough to catch to move to the new aviary

Right...

Just went out there. All the other birds are fine, both feet and faces, at the moment. Th e bird in question is the only one. If it helps at all, it appears to have thicker feet than the other finches, at least double.

Should I seperate her off asap? I know I will still have to treat them all if it is, but it minimises risk
