Hey Everyone

I recently bought a 45 days old ringneck parrot

He apparently was being hand fed at the breeder but refuses to be hand fed from me.

He is also very shy and afraid

I keep putting him on my lap petting him and eventually he comes around and stops being so shy but still feeding is a problem.

Had to syringe feed him twice unfortunately I didn't want to but couldn't starve him ofcourse

I am relating those 2 issue being shy and refusing to be eat to being in a new environment and hopefully he will come around by time

what do you guys think?

Say hi to Uzi

Has he started wating from you now?
How are you feeding? Spoon or syringe?
Sometimes it takes a day or two before they are full on begging for their feeds like normal. Just the change of scenery, no clutchlings, the person who fed him before is not there.
It can help to dim the lights and feed him in the brooder.

Be sure to log his weight every morning and night. If it starts dropping fast (10%+ loss) head to the vet as he will likely need gavage fed (crop tube) .
