Just asking for fun, how close/ far is everybody's avian vet ?
We have to take our Tango for a 30 min drive, a 45 minute ferry ride and another 30 minute drive. And ferry on way home is $70. I'm not complaining at all about it either, I'd drive anywhere for the best help :)

Obviously wish it was as close as our dogs vet is, just incase of an emergency, but it is what it is.

I recently changed my vet, found the one who actually cares about birds (owns 2 himself) :) Previous one was 25 mins drive, the new one is 35-40 mins drive.

There is one 30 minutes away That might do in a pinch, but the best is 90 minutes away, and in the winter that one, or even the closer one, might not always be accessible. I really wish there were more avian vets!

My current vet is only 10 minutes from my house, I'm incredibly lucky. And they're absolutely fantastic, we take all of our pets there. The vet we see isn't Avian Certified but she has experience working at the Shedd Aquarium, and that's good enough for me.

However, the next closest is a full hour and a half from my house, that's the ER. I don't like going there unless I have to. I don't have anything negative to say about them, it's just that I don't like trudging all the up to Chicago unless I have to (like an after hours emergency).

My vet was about a 3 minute walk from my house, but after locating a vet to help a wild dove and later a wild quaker, I decided I would rather take my birds to him, and I have done so a few times now. The hospital is about a 10 minute drive, maybe a little less. Their opening hours are much better mon-sat 9-9.
There is an emergency clinic that treats exotics in the city centre should I ever have a night time emergency, they are open through the night. Luckily I have never had to go there, I could probably get there in 20 minutes.

And yes, I do realise how lucky I am to have all of these resources available to me in such close proximity.

Mine is no more than 15 minutes. They are a mixed vet, but have a specialist for different things across 3 sites.

Depends on traffic, but on a good day I'd say maybe 30 minutes, an hour or more during peak. At my old house we had two 24/7 emergency vets that see birds less than 5 minutes drive, but now they're about 15 / 20 min away.

10 minutes drive away, and it's a dedicated avian/exotics practice.

Our regular exotics vet is about 45 minutes and emergency avian vet is now almost 2 hours, though I do believe we cut 30 minutes off of that last time we had an emergency. We may have to move south at some point just for that. I don’t like being so far away.
