I got to squawks pet shop - Squawks Pet Store
Squawks is local to me and is specialised in birds, they sell HEAPS of birds and great bird toys and food. I recommend them but it just depends on where you live in Australia.
Thank you.

I had a look the other day, I am not personally a fan of most of the bird toys myself but I did mean to go back and check what foods they have available. You say they sell birds?

Yeah, sometimes conures, lovebirds, ringnecks, eclectus, rosellas, finches, rainbow lorikeets, cockatiels, sometimes handraised birds too.

Does anyone know why Chipper parrots doesn't sell the Coco Eclipse toy anymore?
Quarter loved that toy, now I have to get it elsewhere...

I do not know why. I reckon you could ask! They are very helpful :)

If I had to guess it is a supply problem as the Parrot Society is also out.

P.s. Pi also LOVES this toy!

I may have to find out where has them and buy a few! I sure hope they haven't stopped making them!
I was hoping to get an extra to try with the new birdie :)

Also is it a new thing that Queenlander aviary has Freeze dried Veggies?! I've been wanting to get some of those for ages!!
I may need to go on a shopping spree :shop2:

Your call on the freeze dried. I mostly do fresh or frozen from the grocer or organic market.

I can see the advantages of freeze dried, but seasonal fresh stuff is always around. :)

Yep, understand that!
But I am unable to do fresh on days I work, so dried and freezed dried are options I would love available :)
Also I've discussed my budgies' diet before with Ripshod and we both thought dried and freeze dried veggies are a good substitute for TOPs pellets, because TOPs aren't really an option for me.
Only going to be used as apart of a varied diet :)

They have been making their own FD for a short while now.

When you get their freeze dried mix can you share a picture. I'm curious what it looks like on the consumer's end :)

Some of it is bagged properly in the mylar bags but some of it came in takeaway containers which I was unhappy about as it was not crisp when I opened the container. I bought from them very soon after they started selling it though so they may have stopped selling in the containers.

Which products did you buy?
I think I will try the chop and the flower mix.

I got their flower mix (floral blend) and their tropical treat blend.
I honestly prefer the Evie &Co floral mix (a little bit of love) and so does Burt but they’re very similar. 1C798DEE-EAFC-4EFE-9580-96922E16D21F.jpeg F88FDB27-C423-4A37-8D5C-5726067D7784.jpeg

They weren’t yet doing the veggie mixes and I bought a whole heap of FD instant and 5mins to cook mixes from birdzone who I’ll likely stick with as their stuff is made at a proper food place where birds aren’t allowed to live or visit.

I am not a fan of the amount of corn in them, and I like veggie only ones. I do have a bag of the fruit and veg one still and I want to try the grains one.

Not that I would want a child eating bird food, but what is dangerous in it for a child?

In the first bag I would be guessing the lavender. But I am also not sure about calendula.
In the second bag I am guessing chili.

I guess everything has a warning now to not use for any purpose other than recommended, maybe it is just them clearing themselves of anyone being neglectful with the product once it is home.

Choking hazard? I wouldn't want a child to have a dried Goji berry!

This is probably it.

I can see how that would be a fun enrichment toy, like stuffing it in finger traps or in puzzles. Cool.

From a health point of view I will keep feeding heaps of fresh :) I think budgies and outback birds are probably a bit more hardy with dry foods. Parrotlets, by contrast, are sensitive to dry foods. So far I haven't had any signs of illness from the little ones. They are now past 4! So I personally feel like that is a tiny victory, since in the stories I have followed (anecdotally of course) parrotlets who develop serious illnesses (like kidney failure) tend to start declining in between 1-4 years. My dudes are unstoppable little blueberries! But I will consider these freeze dried options for flare/enrichment. It may add a bit of pizzazz to the foraging adventures.

I got the freeze dried stuff as an alternative to fresh when we first got warned that we may get flooded in town and there could be fresh food shortages, FD reconstituted is a nicer texture than dehydrated is once water is added back in. I do reconstitute most of the fd veggies and meals before feeding it although Burt does love the dried peas and corn so I sometimes drop a couple in his pellet mix. The flowers I mix in with pellets but not a lot so it lasts me ages. It came in handy when we had shortages of fresh food delivered and honestly the birds actually love the veggie one so I mix it through whatever they’re getting every few days, if the food I make is too wet I use it to soak up moisture and add more water if needed.
