Artistic gaps in cages

I assembled my A&E elegant flight cage last night. There are what I think they called artistic gaps. They're wider than the actual bar spacing. Too wide for budgies, I think. About 1.5x the bar spacing.

What do people cover them with? There are also similar sized gaps by the food bowl hinges. Preferably, I'd like something that looks nice & is functional. Any ideas? :)

Maybe a hardwood toy with cork or yucca or loofah in front of it?

Here's a picture that shows the size of the decorative ones & the ones by the feeder doors. They're much wider than the bars.

A platform perch might fit nicely in one of those spots. Or if you are handy, you could make your own. Just use stainless steel hardware anywhere birds could reach.
