Usually don't have many in the house/my room but want to be on the cautious side.

Are they a concern for my little Conure?

Thanks!

I am not sure where you are but I know they are not a concern where I live (they are a pain in the butt though!), it may depend on where you live. @Hankmacaw do you know if there are any medical issues for birds with mosquitoes?

Mosquitoes carry several diseases to birds and the one we see in AZ almost every year is the West Nile Virus. The best thing for you to do is contact your state health department to find out which diseases are present in Colorado.

Well the only exposed skin on your bird that a mosquito "might" be able to get a bite on is near your bird's eyes. The feet are scaly. No bite there. Any bug that happens to fly near my birds is dead meat and eaten.

There's way more danger to you than your bird

Unless you have a macaw, John. Lots of bare skin.

Parrots can contract West Nile virus which is transmitted by mosquitoes and found in Colorado.

What do you mean?
I've got a Conure, can they bite elsewhere then around the eye?
Tips on how to protect her?
Biting feathers is useless and not even attempted. Where else do you see bare skin? Don't let paranoia overrule common sense my dear. Yes it's possible to get a mosquito bite but not very likely. You are a much juicier target. :)

Mosquito netting is great protection.

:) Right by that huge all seeing eyeball that does not miss ANYTHING that may cross its path. Which is connected to a pretty good fly catcher. :D
