Hi everyone, i was told to get a mineral perch for my 5 month old Conure (GCC) as a suggestion . They asked me to use it instead of clipping his nails(mind u i do understand the dangers of nail clipping). Just wanted to ask is it save ? and is it abrasive to the birds feet?

thanks

The perch itself is ok, I have my doubts if they really help with nails.
I think these might be the ones that were found to have a toxic metal core?? I’m not sure but as soon as my guys chew down near the center I toss it

I was also skeptical of those too.

Hiqma, get yourself a pedi perch if you want something for nails. It should have a smooth top surface that will be the part touching your birds feet so they don´t get any sores from the abbrassive sides. I don´t know how well pedi-perches work with conures, but they would be better than any other perches designed for nail grooming.
