are any of these safe for my teil to chew on? there are some coles little shop thingos from my sister, a piece of cardboard tubing, some empty cardboard cotton spools, and some ink-free pen lids

The plain cardboard rolls would be fine, I'd be careful with any of the printed papers though.
The pen lids, I'm not sure. I'd probably not though.

Telephone books are also wonderful homemade toys.
Tear off the covers as the shiny colors are no good.
Stick the pages between the bars and let your bird at them.
Most birds love to shred the pages.
