I havent had my boy George for too long but im curious to know if his goofy quirks are common for Parrotlets or just him personally. He is very shy and hasnt come out of his cage much even though the door is open for him to, but he definitely makes me laugh daily with his goofiness in the cage.

Some goofy things ive noticed: eats upside down while hanging on the side of the cage. Sleeps in a corner while holding onto the sides of cage, ill add a picture of this. Another thing ive noticed is he does an odd lunge when I offer treats, almost looks like a yawn with wings starting to open up and then taking the treat all in a very slow motion way.

Hehe, yep! In my experience, p'lets are acrobats, comedians, and (in my little girl's case) spoiled princesses. I LOVE the yellow colour!!

They are definitely goofy. :D

Though sleeping suspended on the side of the cage can be an indicator or feeling a little fearful. I might try and add a few natural branches that have little knots and bumps. My parrotlets like to sleep snuggled against a know if their perch. Mine only sleep cling to the sides when I just rearrange their cage, and about 20min later they adjust and go back to the perches.

I hope it helps.

Oh and the wings and slow motion treat retrieval. That is a parrotlet greeting. He is saying hello, give me that treat please :)

Thank you. Ill try to find some natural perches to add. He must be fearful still. After quarantine I moved him to a larger cage than what he has lived in for the past 2yrs with his previous home. He must still be getting adjusted to the size and new perches/toys. How long does it normally take for p'lets to get comfortable in a new cage with new things inside?

It will all depend on the bird. :)

Yeah, it really does! My p'let only took a day to get use to her new cage!! (granted, I did let her sleep in the old cage.....actually, I still do! unless I'm using the old cage for other birds temporarily...)

Unfortunately I came home yesterday to find my sweet boy at the bottom of his cage. He was completely fine the day before and even that morning so I'm not sure what happened.
