It's not for me.:) Someone I know wants to purchase a second hand cage for an Alexandrine. I've never seen this type of parrot in person so I'd rather ask those who have these parrots rather than go by what the *internet* posts. TIA:)

Given their long tail, I would think something on the bigger side :)

I would think *at least* 30 inches wide. They are a little smaller than a TAG, if I am remembering correctly!

I know a woman who keeps each of her Alexandrines in the 33 x 25" aluminum cage that you and I have, Saemma, and I think it makes a nice size cage :)

Are these guys the size of Ringnecks? Or more like a pionus?

 Sorry. I'm just trying to visualize the actual average size.

To be honest I don't know, but I believe she told me hers weighed approximately 240-260 grams?

Bigger than a ringneck or conure sized bird, a little smaller than a timney, maybe closer to a pionus, but with a ringneck's body, long tail, etc...

This is the cage i have for P.J. My IRN. http://www.aebirdcages.com/victorian-cage.html many larger birds are often housed in this size of cage. Their tail is what is so important, you need a TALL cage for ringnecks. I'm pretty sure thus would be suitable for an Alexandrine as well.

with tails that can be up to 18 inches long they need as big of a cage as they can get.my igors cage is about 2 1/2 feet long 2 foot wide and 3 foot tall and he uses every bit of that cage.i really want to get him a larger one.

:hug8:Thank you so much for everyone's valuable input. It is now clear to me that this cage would be a bit of a squeeze, hence not VERY inappropriate sized for an Alexandrine parrot.:D
