Any non stick cookware I can get?

This forum seemed like the one where I can post my thread in so please correct me if it is in the wrong one.
My family has agreed to no longer use non-stick pans! So I basically need recommendations for any affordable cookware brand I can get anywhere (I live in New Zealand and things are more expensive here as it is far from other countries)
I found a blog that showed me a really cool way to make a stainless steel pan non-stick (using only oil) so i'm pretty keen on hopping on to the stainless steel cookware.

Yay!!!! Just need to convince about the fireplace now.

Unfortunately I cannot help you with the pans but hopefully somebody can. Let me think about any New Zealand members.

I would love to see a link to the blog if you have one.

I am not sure of any active members who live in New Zealand, however there are quite a few members from Australia. Do you have similar brands?

I wonder if cast iron would be okay, and I would think universally available. I use a ceramic pot mostly, and honestly I prefer how things taste when made in it, but could be in my head!

There are numerous brands of non-stick cookware that are safe for birds today. All you have to do is make sure that the product is PTFE and PFOA free. Many are labeled that they are free of these compounds, but you can always call the manufacturer and check.

Stainless steel is IMO best. The new ceramic pans are touted as safe, but at one time so was teflon. :(
Any coating (again IMO) may at some time leach out chemicals.
Stainless and cast iron are the two that are know to be safe.

Stainless steel is definitely best, but ceramic should be fine as long as it is PTFE and PFOA free. However I've learned that they don't last very long compared to similarly priced Stainless Steel

You can buy cast iron second hand, as well. Just clean and season the pan, and you're all set.

I bought a ceramic pan about 8 months ago and the coating that was white wore off and food stuck to it so i trashed the pan.
The Stainless steel pans for me were hard to clean.

The pans of stone are best for me and not too heavy.

I got the small size at first and I do cook with a little butter or oil. Did not try the pan dry. Let us know how you like it! I cooked pancakes yesterday in the large one and it cleaned up well with just dish detergent.

People often have love affairs with their cast iron cookware.
You either love and lavish attention on it....
Or you hate it and buy stainless steel.

I hate it and bought stainless.

Cast iron does take some care, for it to cook the way it's famous for.
Many say food tastes better in it also.
Maybe a cast iron expert can post some care instructions for you.
