We found this little guy tonight in our wreath that I was about to throw out :) Guess he found a home on our porch. Any idea what he is?

Could it be a baby Killdeer? I know they have strips on the face.

It kinda looks like a brown thrasher. Where are you located? I would check the birds in your state that may help in finding out what kind of bird it is. But it is adorable :)

Thanks for the help guys! I searched and searched and the closest I can come up with is a woodpecker. It's the same beak and some of the same markings. Sorry little fella, but I have wood siding on the porch :( I know it's nice a cozy up there, but I can't afford to replace that siding right now!

When my husband found him, he thought it was an owl! We do have a great horned owl that perches in front of our house sometimes, so I thought it could be possible. Then he finally showed his face. Nope, not an owl. But if you search baby owls, they are SO SO CUTE!!!

He doesn't look like a woodpecker to me - woodpeckers' tail feathers are rather distinct in their shape. I think he looks more like a thrush or thrasher.
A dusky thrush, perhaps? That's my best guess. I don't feel like those speckles on the back are quite right, though. :p Maybe Rebecca's right about that flying pinecone.

I'm not sure where you are located, but the eyeline, tail shape, and coloration looks like a Carolina Wren to me. I'm assuming since you found it in a wreath he's fairly small. The only thing that is throwing me off is the spotted back pattern :/

I agree Carolina Wren or House Wren, common around homes.

 We had that last year, a little birdie decided that hanging in our wreath was his new home. It was the cutest thing ever!
