How delightful is that! Maybe the tides have turned! When I brought Lola home she was 4 months I think? She was still on one feeding and I had visited the breeder while she was a growing baby and watched her feed. While at her house I saw her vomit once after a feed and questioned it and she told me she likely over filled the crop ( she did ). At home with me though she did the same thing so I took her to the vet and we cultured the vomit. It was positive for a pseudomonas bacteria and I had to give her oral antibiotics. I could've given her back to the breeder to do this but I wanted to make sure it got done right. ( She had suffered a brain aneurysm a few months before ). Long story short..... Lola was a hands off bird for eight years in the beginning. I used to tell her if she died I was going to pet her all over. :D At 20 now she loves having her head scratched and gets in my way by moving to the open door of her cage so I have to scratch her head, or her food cup attached to her door, or the perch on the outside of her door. One way or another she is going to get that scritch! I couldn't be happier. I'm delighted Opie is exploring on you! Next... the scritch! Once they learn how good that feels they want more. :chickendance:

Sometimes they see what the rest of the flock is doing and it just clicks that they are safe and could have that love and scritches too. Lurch took 5 years but he did get there and was very fond of me after we reached a understanding with each other.

I’m sorry I’m waxing on about this, but this is unbelievable to me. He’s been sitting on me for more than an hour today. He has been covering me with walnut crumbs. And now he’s grinding his beak and falling asleep.

I understand your feelings here.

I went through a similar experience with one of my tiels, Coco. When she landed on me the first time, I was so delighted and had to contain my excitement :)

It sure does make you wonder what instigated the change.
But just make it a nice experience and hopefully he'll want more and more.
