Please help end an argument about using aluminum foil by birds. I've read many of the treads on here about it and I know the non-stick is no. I say no but another person said it's completely fine.

I've used regular aluminum foil.

There's issues with regular?

Not all aluminium foils are dangerous as far as I know but it’s hard to tell which are dangerous and which are safe. We won’t use the trays anymore as some are apparently treated with a non stick layer and the rolls of foil I buy is just tin foil with no non stick coating.

@Mizzely may know more, I know it has been discussed here before in the time I have been a member- you might find more information if you do a search.

I'm not sure, I just wanted others options. She said I'm overly paranoid, I'll admit I am.

I would honestly rather be overly paranoid and have my bird stay healthy than to be carefree and kill him accidentally. When it comes to a life there is no paranoia in being extra safe.

Then there is this: The reason the two sides are different is because of the manufacturing process called tilling. However, when it comes to non-stick foil, there is a designated side, which is the dull side, as the non-stick coating is only applied to that side.

I use regular aluminum foil. There is non-stick aluminum foil available also, that is NOT safe.

I won't use any of the disposable pans.

I'll have to admit to her I was wrong on some areas of using it. My daughter needs a straighter for her hair and I've given myself a headache looking at what's on them.

If Natasha only ever uses the straightener in the bathroom with the door closed and the exhaust fan on you should be absolutely fine.

Look at the ceramic ones. Conair is usually good and always notes PFOA, PFOA free

PFOA has not been allowed to be used for years in most places. You also need to look for PFTE or PFAS free. Many ceramic coatings are actually made with PTFE compounds too.

I actually JUST found out yesterday that they sell non-stick foil!
Gee, have I been hiding under a rock all this time? How long has this stuff been around?

And I had no clue there was any hazards with aluminum foil! (What we used to call "tin foil")!
