I read an article a while back about the uses of the aloe bitter crystal, for humans as well as for our pets, which include our feathered babies, but for the life of me i cannot remember where or on which site i read the article. Now i know aloe vera is excellant for misting on our birds especially when molting, but i want to know can i use the crystals at all in their water, or dissolve it in water to use on them? I bought a jar of aloe bitter crystals yesterday but it came with no pamflet. So far i have been scouring the internet for answers and have not come up with anything, excepting for how to use it on dogs. Thankyou.

Just under the skin of the Aloe vera stalk, you will find a yellow-green sap. It is that sap that has a purgative effect on man or beast. The sap is sometimes called "Aloe Bitters". In mammals, It will act as a laxative and for some, irritate the stomach and large intestine. Some people can also develop a rash when they contact the Aloe Bitters. Because of these potential problems, these cautions are also applied when using aloe for birds.

proof that is it used as a laxative in humans
