My Quaker has an air bubble back of neck. Few months ago I watched the vet use a needle and syringe the air out of the bubble. Almost instantly my bird was his usual self happy, active, and no longer just sitting around. So I know this bothered him. Has anyone used a sterile needle and done this procedure at home? It looked simple enough. My bird is also blind so just trying to avoid the long vet ride that causes him much stress.

I know it can be done at home with training.
A rescue offered me a bird that needed this done every few weeks and they would train the adopter, but it wasn't something I was comfortable with.
Ask your vet how they would feel about training you to do this.
