Hi All - have been an avid Arab rider/owner/shower most of my life. Have been recently looking at other breeds, l:omg:ove that high stepping motion as long as it's NATURAL, well, a bit of a toe weight and pad not bad. Thought the saddlebred folks were a bit tough, then I saw a video on Tennesse Walkers, and a practice called "soring". Well, I watched these horses go around the ring, nothing pretty or showy about it. The weight and pads and shoes on these horses' feet just take away from the whole producton. There was no elegance to it, I just don't get it. Just felt bad for the horses in those horrible looking heavy shoes. I was observing a show, have no idea why anyone was cheering. Just my opinion.

I used to show TN walkers. They are trained to gradually work up to the bigger pads. It's not everyone's cup of tea but if done correctly the training is not cruel.
