Even though it is called a "blue" mutation, there is no actual blue on the bird. It is white and a silver/grey.
Well that's disappointing, lol. I didnt figure it would be blue like say the Ekkie mutation but I figured it would at least be sorta blue ish. They should have called it a Silver mutation instead.

I was thinking her coloration must be a mutation too!
If this is so, I think those feathers you see as stained may just be where the mutation was not "perfect" and some of the usual grey comes thru.
So it is part of the feather and won't come off.
Cockatoos can be stubborn when it comes to eating. I wonder if she would like nutriberries?
we don’t have nutriberies where I’m from
But I make a treat homemade similar she not interested

None of my birds have ever been the least interested in Nutriberries,
but if I give my Goffin a little piece of millet spray he will stay out of trouble for about 20 minutes, eating it precisely seed by seed.

for Millies best interest I’ve made the decision she’s not best suited
She really needs a home with a single person
With lots of time
I’ve got kids which really put her back
She gets very agitated when she sees kids fingers and lashes out not her fault but she’s been obviously traumatised in her last home with kids

Rescued Millie a few days back
I’m currently fostering her and have the opportunity to keep her .
First of all
She’s still young only under a year
Home she has come from though has had owners with young kids who have obviously teased her .
I have two kids myself so since she’s come she’s been really good hearted but has a bit of a bitting attitude (but considering what she’s been through don’t blame her )

she’s trustful of me I got one of my boys to do target training with her but she’s not willing with kids what so ever

shes not also eating much proper food
Or pellets /chop

she’s absolutely adventurous and is so happy she’s got so many toys (unlike where she came from)

I know she’s been raised right as I funny enough meant this little girl when she was a few weeks old
As I was looking at getting her .

Anyone my main goal right now is to get her training in order
And I need to sort out what to do with these stains on her feathers

thanks in advance and any advice is much appreciated

Owning my "love". I think the best thing we can do for our birds is to figure out what they need to be happy and secure. And sometimes we're not the right person/situation for that bird.

Sometimes the toughest decision is doing what's best for the bird. It's good that you recognize what she needs and are willing to do what is best for her. I help with a rescue and even just with foster homes, we see a bird struggle in one and thrive in another. And these are all people with lots of bird experience- it's just sometimes not the right fit. I hope she finds her perfect home.

Are her feathers white? I've never seen a galah with white feathers before. What are the stains from? You can try bathing her but depending on what the stains are the feathers just might have to molt out. What is she currently eating? I am not the best at training but a really good book to read is Good Bird by Barbara Heidenreich. She also has training videos and a website/blog with helpful info.

@Nancy B ? @Macawnutz ?
Wow she's beautiful! I love her coloring and yes, that's a mutation. I also wouldn't worry about the stains. You might notice it more because she's pure white. She grooms and looks very healthy in those photos. Make sure she gets lots of fresh veggies. I give my Fred a seed/pellets mix, and a fresh veggies skewer every day with broccoli or romaine lettuce, raw carrots sweet Holland peppers, mesclun salad mix, sugar snap peas, slice of apple or banana, kiwi, blueberries, strawberries. Anything on the safe food list. Limit fruit to once or twice a week. My vet says all the fresh vegetables they will eat. My birds have never been sick so there's a lot to be said for that.

I hear you. My Fred was mishandled as a baby and still has trauma from that. For the most part he's good, but I think that kind of trauma stays with them. Geez I think we've had him 4 years this December. He's 11 now. Such a good boy too. They do require lots of time. My son was 23 when we got him. I didn't attempt getting a parrot when he was a kid. They need consistency which you can't always get in a house with kids.

Read this with sadness... what a difficult decision you had to make... I must say, the cockatoo's DO remember-- still dealing w/ our Umbrella's past traumas, even after 5yrs [?]... But now I know what her triggers are, which REALLY helps!
Q-- what happened to her? Are you in Australia? NEVER KNEW there were Galah mutations! SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
