Amarillo is doing much better. Her eye is all but cleared up without further complications. She also took only about a half a syringe at this evenings feeding.

8 weeks old is not too young to wean for a smaller bird. Ringo came home when he was 8 weeks old, fully weaned on his own, and Kirby came home at 9 weeks and flew across the country, fully weaned on his own. Of course, I would never force wean, but smaller birds can wean on their own no problem at 8 weeks.
None of my baby conures ever abundance weaned themselves at 8 weeks. They start to fly at 6-7 weeks. Most breeder force wean them at this time. My babies were weaned, at their pace, typically between 10-12 weeks.
