Theese are "honey rods". Don´t know the english word for it.
Should be used as snack now and then. I have made theese several times and my four cockatiels loves it. They eat some of the ingredients (seeds, nuts) but the fun part is to totally demolish the rod. This is a "cockatiel hit".
I´v tryed a couple of birdie bread variations but they didn´t like it. But this honey rod, a choosey cockatiel can´t resist. :)
Remember that there is some sugar in the honey and therefor it should not be given to often. (even though, I dont think they eate any of the honey)

Ingredients:
It is 80 g flour (3,2 ounce) , 1 egg, 2 spoons of honey and whatever snack you can come up with.
I used different kind of seeds, pellets , walnuts and hazelnuts

Miks the flour, egg, honey and snack in a bowl with a spoon.

Fill a paper roll with the stuff and put inn a flower stick in the middle.

Put it in the oven for 30-40 minuttes. 200 degree Celsius (390 Fahrenheit).
After 40-50 minutes it should look something like this.

They harden when they are cooled down. Use a knife to whittle (cut) away the paper tube.

Ready for action. :)

Tippi is "going in for the kill". This will keep them occupied for a while. :)

I use ordinary rolls of paper towels. You can go for 180 C ( about 350 Fahrenheit) . :)
It should be ok. I use an electric oven.

Hey Saroj, what's the burn point of paper? I thought it was in the 300's?

Oh, this should be posted as a treat for your birds, not just cockatiels. That is wonderful. It should replace those nasty NUTRIBERRIES THAT HAVE ETHOXYQUIN that everyone insists on feeding their birds. Sorry for yelling..hehe. Good job!:highfive:

would wrapping them in Tin foil work? figured it would be a safer alternative to cardboard
I dunno... tinfoil can be an insulator and usually cooks by steaming whatever is inside, I would think this would be detrimental to the cooking process.
What about just putting some in muffin tins? We could even use muffin cups as we know our birds love to chew paper...

This is a fabulous idea!! Thanks Toby!
