A simple question: does foraging has to involve food?

Hello all,

Recently I have noticed that my bird like to chew on things he did not before, like balls of paper.
I am trying to encourage this and I see in a lot of foraging toys that there is a food treat inside the foraging toys or material. Is food always necessary?

Thank you!

By definition to forage is to look for food however searching for a favourite toy in a foraging box is still enriching for them.

Encouraging movement and activities by hiding favorite toy or parts is definitely good enrichment, even if it's not food foraging :)
