I love seeing robins. They remind me of a thing my mum used to tell us kids. She said robins were sent by Father Christmas to make sure we were behaving. In the months running up to Christmas, whenever we were misbehaving she would look out the window and say "is that a robin outside?" We'd all panic and stop bickering hahaha

We have Robins here but they are a completely different species then those lil guys. I think ours are related to Thrushes or something like that and their breast area is red so as kids we called them robbin red breast.

Going back through history, at the time the Robin was first described there was no word for the colour 'orange' in English language, so it was described as red. To this day that word has stuck and we still see the orange breasted Robin as the little red Robin or Robin red breast.
