A millet bomb went off at my house?!

I have been training my new cockatiel every day since I got her in early Feb, and I plan to do so indefinitely since she seems to enjoy it. :)

The problem: she takes one bite of millet and it's like a millet bomb has gone off spraying millet husks across the entire room! I'm exaggerating a little...but not by much. I have to vacuum the area up to 5 times per day if I don't want millet stuck to my socks and my pants after sitting on the couch! I forgot how messy millet can be.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a less messy treat that small birds still find enjoyable? I'm thinking along the lines of hulled sunflower seeds cut up into tiny pieces... except that she doesn't like those. Any other recommendations are welcome.

Millet is driving me crazy! :banghead:

Safflower, almond slivers, sesame seed are all nice and small and fairly healthy

I had a foster canary-winged whose favorite things were safflower seed or a bit of dried mango. My current tiels both love a small piece of cashew (raw/unsalted).

Mine love safflower and sunflower seeds! Even hand shy Tootie will eat from my hands if they're full of seeds.
