Many of you know my story of losing my Heart Bird and shared in the sorrow with me after also sharing in the years of happiness beforehand.
Being able to come here and express that sorrow was an incredible part of maintaining my mental health during those times- to know other people understand the heartbreak and mourning that most would brush off as “it’s just a bird!”.
I lost him 6 years ago,
And this coming Sunday I am picking up his little brother from the airport (genuinly a brother!)
a freshly weaned Red Tailed Black Cockatoo.
over the weekend just gone my husband and I went to pick up a large order aviary- I will upload photos once we are finished putting it together.
I have an indoor/sleep cage for him too.
I plan for him to be outside in nice weather during the day while I work, and to bring him inside every night for socialising and to sleep along with it there’s bad weather.
For the first few weeks I plan to have him mostly inside since hes
fresh pellets are on the way in the mail.
my children all have and care very well for their own birds now.
my eldest in particular has secretly been begging family to help him buy me a black cockatoo again in secret- warms and breaks your heart at the same time!
