First thing is relax. Be calm and peaceful around him.
Don't try to hurry him, he is still getting used to being in a new place.
Let him get used to you being near him. Talk softly to him a lot.
Have patience, he will get used to you. Just give him as much time as he needs.
All birds are different some take longer some take shorter.
Just be happy that he is with you and he will feel that.

Thank you so much...
so he is in the living room.
should I put him in my bedroom because it is quieter?
and I have 2 siblings and they likee playing with him so much.
so is it better to just let only one of us take care of him ?

9 months is still a baby. So plenty of time to tame him. Cockatiels generally like to be where people are. So the living room is a good place for him to hang out. However, your bedroom might be a good place to work on letting him out of the cage. Can you move the cage back and forth? Continue to spend time with him. Sit with him and even read to him so he gets used to your presence in a non-scary way. And then you can also try to start handfeeding him treats. Tiels usually really like millet spray.

he does a weird thing...
he suddenly starts shaking and putting his beak between the wires of the cages
do all cockatiels do this or is he sick or something
I wanted to send a video of him while he is doing it but apparently, videos can not be sent from here...
can anyone help

Tau does the cage 'rattle' thing but I still haven't managed to connect it to anything. He'll grab a bar and shake the whole cage. He does it as part of his evening song so I beleive it could be a declaration, maybe territorial.
*Edit* He rattles the cage even if it's open.

I’m not sure either, so hopefully you can get a video. I’m also guessing he might want out?

no I don't think he wants to go out because I can't get him out even if I open the cage
it is not because he is hungry or bored either
I'd be sitting next to him and whistling and he would start doing that all of a sudden soo...
PS. I leave his food in the cage so hunger would never be the problem

I know that I have an entirely different species of parrot, but could be that he is frustrated or mad about something? Georgie does this when she is mad that I haven't come quick enough to come get her out of her cage. She also does it when she is frustrated about me putting her back in the cage (only when I have to go or do something that she can't be around). She has done it other times and she doesn't want out or is frustrated, those times are a complete mystery to me. I would say look at what triggers them and what time of day that he does it. It could be just as Ripshod said, a part of your cockatiel's routine.

Is that not just territorial behaviour/showing off? Also known as beak banging/tapping. Jeff also rattles his beak between the bars and on his food bowl. He does it every afternoon just before breaking into song, and I've found whenever I tap on something in response, he'll tap back in response. It's like a little human - bird drum solo! He is also extremely shy and is not tame, so he is not asking for interaction from me.

Here is where I read about it: ParrotFeather.com | Why does my cockatiel bang his beak?

Mmmm, Tau has never tapped on anything. @Khizz may have hit the proverbial nail on the head.
Maybe I should get Tau a drum and show him how.
