My last vet was Dr Tamura of Capri Plaza Clinic in Tarzana who treats avians but is not ABVP.
Capri Plaza Pet Clinic - Yoko Tamura, DVM
She is very nice & seems knowledgeable but I might transfer & take another bus a little west to Woodland Hills next time to DR Berens ABVP who also has DR Levine ABVP also working at the W Valley Pet Clinic listed above.

Feel free to add to it.

Add this to the list:

City of Angels Veterinary Specialty Center | Cardiology at ACC

Two vets for avians and exotics, Dr. Petritz and Dr. Schachterle. They are available on call for emergencies although it is extra to have them come in at times other than their office hours.

I go to City of Angels aka ACCESS with my dog but did consider taking Scully there when he got ill. I wound up going to:
VCA Central Animal Hospital and seeing Dr. Johnson

Update....Dr. Petritz no longer at City of Angels aka ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospitals. There are 3 branches: Culver City, South Bay and San Fernando Valley. Dr. Schachterle and Dr. Pilny at Culver City facility.

West Valley looks like a nice vet & hospital with exc equip on site
I also was warned not to get Dr Levine at West Vally...I think it was you???

I would probably see Dr Berens but not sure if she still is in practice as there was one woman vet who retired.

Have to look into the San Fernando valley branch...20051 Ventura Blvd also Woodland Hills!!!
Looks excellent...& is a surgery hospital!

Woodland hills is not that bad but its still two buses though the 2nd one might just make it on the one 750 line....:fairy2:

It was me. I went there once and that was enough. He's excellent, though, with dog orthopedics and I have no qualms on recommending him if a furry friend breaks a bone or has a luxation.
No exotic specialist at the ACCESS SFV branch as far as I know.
Can you take a bird on a bus? You might have to use lyft or uber.
Create a thread regarding recommendation for vet in SFV. There are a few members here who live in that area and surrounding areas.

You can take whatever animal on a bus/train as long as its in a safe carrier & manageable size...

Penny may have one but I have a spare that is 11 x 18 inch x 12 tall small dog carrier that should be fine but spacing is over an inch.
Rios is smaller say 10 x 16 inch x 9 tall with 3/4 in space

I use those plastic cat carriers...Rio has one he was shipped by plane in & I have a slightly larger one someone in the building donated to the laundry room//

I have to put screws & bolts in that one if I use it as I donlt like those plastic wing nuts they come with

Well, then SFV one is out but I'll check..
Does say Los Angeles for avian & thats in Culver city so I'd rather go to Wilshire VCA in Santa Monica but public transport there takes about 2 hrs each way!

I didn't think you could do that but thanks for letting me know. Thought it was just service animals. Good that it is otherwise.

It depends on what the exam includes. If it's just the physical exam and no lab work that's expensive. My vet charges about $58 for exam but that does not include any lab work. It does include grooming.

WOW...thats great...its alot more here!!!
True!!! but $58 is great price for a base well exam.

I paid $60 at Tarzana but that was a special first time bird visit.

True $ is best spent on a few labs rather than a few wing clips/mails etc.
She is having her wings & nails done & I can see how that works & let her wings grow in...

I just think when a bird is new its easier & I know some will have other ideas but I guess she is clipped so will just see how she settles in & does not fly to Rio & attack him...

This is quarantine so I would like her to stay on her play area/cage...
