12 week old sun conure splayed leg

I adopted a young conure from an irresponsible breeder(long story). I assume it’s around 12 weeks old as it doesn’t have feathers under its wing, eats nuts and fruits by itself and perches well. One leg is splayed but he(assumed) is able to get around and climb and perch. When he is tired he lifts his splayed leg up in a “high five” way to the side or rests it on the grill of the cage. Can I put a hobble on it? Will it help? How can I go about this? We’ve named him Leo.

At this age I don't think hobbling will help that leg. The prime time to correct splayed legs is between 8-14 days of age. You can seek professional advice from a certified Avian Vet. If Leo is fully capable of climbing around his cage and perching without issue I wouldn't consider putting him through any trauma. I would suggest though putting a couple of platform perches in for him to sit on where he doesn't have to use his feet to grip around a perch .... but provide both so he has an option. Some of the vendors here on the avenue may have just what you need.
