I just had this story in my heart and head and just needed to share it today:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At my stable where i ride horses, a pair of handsome black Percherons (18 hh!), Tom and Jerry showed up.
Coach renamed them Thomas and Jeremiah. They were like giant sweet teddybears! Thomas had a fuzzier coat and white blaze on his head, he was younger. Jeremiah was a tad bigger and more wiry haired with a snip and star, he was, of course older. They were such fun to ride on and I especially had a soft spot for Jerry. He licked my back and loved hugs. One day i noticed Jeremiah's fetlock was swollen. I reported and they took him off work for a little while. I spent hours on the internet looking for leg medicine and cool packs. But Jerry was the camp horse, not mine, so they should decide what to do. Weeks later, I heard Jerry has colic and was constipated. He just got worse and worse. Coach slept in his stall with i.v. bags strapped on Jeremiah's neck. Sometime in January, 4:50 am Jerry was freaking out. At sunrise, coach took Jerry outside in the new green grass and let his do as he pleased, then he was peacefully and harmlessly put to sleep, and was carried away by a carriage of fire into the cloud.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You will always be in my heart Jeremiah sweetheart.
