“Foster” BG - Michael - Questions

I am sure it is really that the birds can sence your bird friendly vibes - it is surprising what creatures can sence our like of dislike vibes.

Really trying to convince myself hes a foster and foster only

We've moved so fast and he's been so good at stepping up and all he wants to do is hang out 24/7. I cant believe she said he doesn't chew on wood when he's already gone through two thinner pine toys. Hes such a good bird he really just needed interaction and patience. We are definitely still learning eachother and everything obviously and having troubles since we are so no. But I can't believe what a sweet boy he is. Also completely and utterly in love with birdie bread.

I rescued JaJaBinks (avatar pic) at age 2 years. she had been abused & neglected. Owners could do anything with her. She became an amazing companion I could do anything with & take anywhere. Sadly I lost her to kidney disease at age almost 22 years. My current B&G Macaw, JaKhu now age 5, is a brat. She's been bulled headed & supper nippy since I got her at age 4 months. She refuses to step up often, refuses to fly, doesn't like petted & plain out refuses to listen. She's very destructive & can't be trusted for 1 minute out of her cage without eyes on her all the time. It's her way period. She's a major work in progress.

It sounds pretty clear that Michael has chosen you to be his forever companion. Once in a life time. Grab it

JaJaBinks owners told me they hadn't let out of the small junky cage they had her in for at least 5-6 months "because she bites". Keep in mind she was 2 years & 2 weeks old when I got her. They also kept her in the dark 24/7 so she'd be quiet. They could not handle her at all, because she'd bite them & she did not know how to step up/down.

I feel like you might be onto something, I can't imagine him possibly having to deal with being ignored ever again. I remember she was so shocked that he stepped up for a stranger as well. I was in a meeting with the operations coordinator for the bird rescue yesterday and he walked over on his stand and climbed onto my shoulder. I havent trusted him on my shoulder yet and I was a little nervous, but we hung out there the whole rest of the meeting and after the OC said "jeez you guys are already the best of friends huh?"

PS: He needs a beak & nail trim. Has he had a good shower yet? If not I bet he'd love one. When I got JaJaBinks she'd hadn't had a shower in many months, if ever. She was so dirty her feathers curled up on her back & wings & she smelled like a dirty wet dog. I sat her in the tub & used a handheld shower head & gave her a good scrubbing. The dirt poured off her. She went wild.

He does! I've been giving him a little bit of time to settle in before he has to get snatched with a towel when I bring him to work to get trimmed. I want to get him to let me do it myself without restraining him but he needs them so much sooner than I'll get him to let me I'm betting
He hasn't gotten one yet but she did give him one the day before I picked him up. I was planning on showering today after I go feed some horses (I feed horses once a week in exchange for lessons), and I was going to see if he wanted to try sitting on top of the showe (or come on the perch inside if he's willing) I know he's only used to a mister so I wanted to introduce him to the shower slowly. If he's not a fan I might have to buy a mister again lolol

Guys I haven't fostered in almost 3 years my first one can't be a foster fail!!!
Apparently I don't have to go through all the paperwork and checks and everything since I foster and I have 3 coordinator roles so she said "just say the word"
