Im so excited for you. one thing to invest in is a high quality air filter as Pionus are prone to respiratory problems (including asper). I really like my Austin air filters.

Hi Harry, glad to have helped you out to find your new little dusky. Yes I also recommend an Austin Air, expensive but well with it.

AWWW! So cute...was he born like that? Im really excited about get this bird, I have big plans for a modified cage for 'her'...does yours need modified cage and different playgym and stuff like that? or does he just go about his day like any ol' 2 footed parrot?

Just looking for some tips I guess, of what to expect and such...He's sooo cute!

YAY Harry--she is adorable! I've seen many threads about modifications for parrots w/one foot. Most of them seemed to maximize areas where the bird could rest their good foot, to minimize degenerative arthritis later in life (platform perches, fleece & vet-wrapped perches, etc.), & using lower, more horizontal space than vertical. I know you'll find lots on here & other websites. Good on you for helping out a special needs baby!
