Usually I just let him run out of steam, but sometimes I don't have the luxury of waiting for him to cool down. So I have to towel him to get him to cooperate. I bring out the towel, kinda toss it on him, and he squirts out the other side all humble. Then he steps up like a good bird.

He HATES being toweled. I'm trying to towel him more often, kinda in a playful manner, in case he needs to be toweled at the vet. But he really hates it. I've never actually fully toweled him and held him - just tossed the towel on and let him crawl out from under it. Sometimes I scoop him up in the towel and drop him in my lap. That's about all he'll tolerate right now. I worry that if I towel him like they do at the vets, it might be painful on his wing stump or something.

The worst is when I get him to step up willingly, then he gets that weird kink in his tail and his eyes get all squinty as I'm walking him back to his cage. I'm going "please don't bite me yet Hardy! Just running to the cage now, don't bite!" and he's thinking, "yeah, one good bite. Just one will make my point."
