Got up this morning to Zamir noticeably favoring her right leg. She's been laying eggs and looks like she's getting ready to lay another egg. She's just as feisty, got the bites to prove it is eating and pooing. I don't know if I should rush her in or did she get her leg caught somewhere. Calling the vet this morning to make sure. Prayers please.

Just found out yesterday that she lunged at Craig, got him and he pulled his finger back before he could think not to. I think this may be what happened and when he pulled back he injured her leg, strained it. I am calling the vet this morning though. I don't think I should take her until she lays this egg, because I don't want him handling her at this point in the development. The only problem I have is that the injury could prevent her from being able to lay. I am going to keep a close eye on her all day and make a vet appointment for tomorrow.

keep an eye out Ginger..sometimes if they are favoring a leg while they are egg laying, it means she could be egg bound and that her nerves are affected..so keep a very close eye on her..:hug8:

I am, she is bright eyed, eating, drinking, pooing, biting, preening and letting Trinket feed her. She seems to be moving easier, the only thing that worries me is the limp and she didn't want to chew up any paper this morning. I am calling the vet at 8 a.m. and getting an appointment for tomorrow. She definitely has egg butt, but she's not fluffy or lethargic.

Well she's still active but her stance is off. When you look at her, her right leg sticks out wider than the left and she is definitely having mobility issues. She's still a feisty little $#@! and I have the bite marks to prove it, but I thinking she is going to have to go in whether she lays the egg or not. Is there anyway to tell if the leg is disconnected? She doesn't seem to be in any pain, but I know they try and hide it. I felt all up and down it as much as I dared and didn't feel anything loose.

I don't have any words of wisdom, but I understand your worry. :hug8:

I will be happy for all of us and our birds when this egg season is over. I am keeping Zamir in my thoughts. :hug8:

I'm glad you've decided to take her in, and I hope everything goes well.
I'm actually having a very similar problem with Peanut. Right leg as well, and my AV even said internal pressure (from an egg or other mass) most commonly effects the right leg (though Peanut's issue doesn't seem egg related at this point.)

I'll pray for little Zamir too, may her injury not be related to something more serious and frighting like egg binding and her leg heal quickly and painlessly.
