OH NO Chel's when we choose to let out bird remain free flighted we all have a fear of this kind of thing happening but like what has been said we can not predict or protect them all the time and these kind of things will happen without us controlling them . My prayers are with you my AA friend for I know and believe miss Olea is is flying in the clouds of heaven chirping and singing away looking down on you with her happy face telling you not to worry you will be together again.

Thank you everyone. I have read each and every reply with a fresh tear in my eye each time.

Today I went out and bought seven native plants, two are endangered and rare, so I will pick one to plant where I have laid Olea to rest.

I worked out how she got in to the walkway from her aviary. And I am considering re-homing the two Kakariki youngsters I still have as I think they are too small to be out there and I fear they will get out too. The aviaries aren't made for little cheeky parakeets and I had to learn that the worst way *sigh*
