Lola's first word was Hello in the cutest little voice. Barron's was No! When I offered him a nut for the journey home from the horrid petshop. He then went on to say a few Shut the f ups. He has never over a year ago muttered them words again and has never said No either.

I was ready to cry when Cricket (quaker) joined Rika(sun) and Dusty (tiel) in saying "Poppa"--the one and only parrot word for all. Then about a week later Rika was screaming and I said "Who's making all that noise?"
Cricket: "Rika".

Two days later Cricket was flinging all his toy debris on the floor. Dad went to move his cage and vacuum
Cricket: "what are you doing"?
Astonished Dad : Cleaning up your mess---Who made that mess?"
Cricket: Rika

Now Dad is so amused that Cricket is(talking) snitching on his "sister" and he walks up to Cricket .

Dad: Who is a rotten bird?
Cricket:
Dad: Who is nasty?
Cricket:
Dad Who is a mean rotten dirty nasty bird?
Cricket: Poppa .

Gotta love em

Sunny doesn't talk. I thought once he said "don't know" but I think now I was half- awake and imagined it. He does do a great frog ribbit thought. :D

Ojos first word was "what?". Probably cause it's so crazy in my house with family and animals he always hears me saying that. Kiwi's was her name and my poor Rose doesn't talk.

I think Nila's was "What doing?" and Sapphire "What-ing?".

We had not tried to teach him, but our GCC started saying "pretty bird" on his own a few months ago. He hasn't tried to say anything else yet, though I wish he would, and we have now tried a tiny bit to teach "hello," and "bath time" when he gets his bird bath, which he adores.

Kiwi doesn't truly talk yet but at the end of all of his screaming fits he tends to say something that sounds like "No more!" I sure didn't teach him that cause he only shuts up if I don't encourage him. It might just be more grumbles cause it kinda sounds like "Mo poooouuuuurrrrrrr" Almost like pour as in pouring rain.

Cha-Cha is desperately trying to hold a conversation with me these days. she leans forward earnestly and speaks streams of consciousness which have a somewhat human cadence. No luck with exact words yet tho!

Kiwi was adopted as an older bird and didn't appear to talk. After growing up with 3 parrots who never said a single word, I didn't really care and wasn't ever expecting him to talk. After some months of owning him and only hearing bird noises (we didn't encourage speech either), I was VERY surprised when he said a great big "Hello" for the first time when I walked through the door with groceries. Ummmm... hello to you too Kiwi! But that's about all he says (hello, hi and a curse word, which all came from his past), and he doesn't say any of them often. He does like to wolf whistle at you in the shower though :wideyed:

Sam used to swear like a trucker... I have never heard it here. :)

My guys say "HI" in the loudest clearest tone for the first word. ;) Kailua said "SHUT THE DOOR!" Must be from her last home.

Macho's first word was step-up. That is because we loved to hold him all the time. :swoon:

Remmy's was "Pretty Birdy," which morphed into "pretty bird," and "Baby bird," along with other variations.
