What places do cockatoos NOT have feathers?

Other than the crop.

I found a bald spot and I'm trying not to jump to conclusions. It's my eternal paranoia.

So a spot on the back, just inside the wings (where shoulder blades on a human would be) could be problematic? It's perfectly mirrored on both sides.

Me too. She preens a lot and still barbers some, but not nearly as badly as a year ago. And I never see anything plucked out - the only feathers she drops are clear through the tips, no blood or anything. I don't find any of those little downy ones unless she shakes and one flies off. So if she is plucking, she must be eating the feathers

You would find them when pico plucks it’s a half shaft feather he’s pulled which fingers crossed at min he’s letting them grow in

You can look up “feather tracts” or “pterylae”, which means “areas birds have feathers”. Because they’re not evenly scattered over the body.

I couldn’t find an illustration for parrots. But I’d expect bare areas under wingpits. You would see the feather follicle if she’s pulling them out.

So the torso should be bare right in the wingpits but the ventral side of wings should be feathered.
