I wanted to know what would be too cold for Squeeky. This morning it was around 55 or 60 outside and it was a little cool in the house because I had not turned on the gas portable heater. The temps were definitely not cold enough for the need of a heater last night but they got chilly in the early morning hours. We have been fluctuating in temps from it being in the 80's and so on. My vet said that going from them being cool to hot is not good so I shouldn't crank up the heat suddenly. Not to mention as the day goes on it starts to heat up here in Fl and I don't want to start leaving the heater on in case it starts getting too hot for Squeeky while I am not home. I don't want him getting sick on me from being cold. Your opinions?

a gradual change in temp to the 60 is not bad I have know for birds to live in out door aviaries with worse it is the sudden change that makes for problems
watch him closely to see that he is not shivering in the morning:hug8:

Miriam - does Squeeky have one of those 'thermo perches'

that might be a good alternative for chilly mornings - I have one for Boogie (CAG) and one on the way for Sugar (GCC)

I love Boogie's and that is why I am getting one for Sugar - he uses his when it is a little chilly in the am and then is off of it during the day once it warms up

it is low wattage and uses only a tiny bit of electricity (no big jump in the power bill)
