A friend is someone who loves you no matter what.:hug8: A contact goes on your eyeball so you can see your friends more clearly.:coffeescreen:

:funnypost:(POSTS), but what I think April meant is on this Forum :D

I have wondered about this myself, and all I have found is that we are able to "Open Contacts Popup" under "Quick Links" drop-down at the top of the page under "Forum" beneath tha A.A. logo.

This drop-down allows us to view all of our "contacts", which are "friends" on the Forum, at a glance, and all at once, and also see if they are logged on or not. It seems to be there as a shortcut to determine the whereabouts of all our "friends" on A.A.

Other than that, I'm not sure if there is a distinct difference between "contacts" and "friends" :)

Well goodness, I need to add more "contacts/friends" so I can instantly see where everyone is at! Good to know.

Huh, never thought about that, that you could use that as a quick way to find out if someone is on.

I think you can also add someone as a 'contact', and then it gives you the option to send a 'friend request'.

While on the forum, you are going to meet people who sound like people you want to know better and to keep in touch with more closely than 'just' a Contact. You send them a friend request and if they agree, then you private message (pm) one another back and forth. Contacts can be anyone who has sent you a hello, even visitors, and a contact is a little less 'intimate' than a friend. I have met some really good long distance friends I never would have known except for this forum.

Good one, Carole!

A friend has to be confirmed/accepted by the other person but you can put someone as a contact without them acknowledging.

I'm really not sure what rights or privileges friends have here, as you don't have to be friends to pm someone.
