The cage you linked is only 22x24 unfortunately.

And yes they might say 24x24 minimum but I think most people will agree that minimum cage sizes are just big enough to not constitute neglect. I mean I've seen minimum cage sizes of 12x18 for budgies and other small birds and that is like making them live in a shoebox. Personally I think if your bird is going to be inside of its cage for more than a few hours you should aim for as big a cage as possible (at least enough space for plenty of toys and space to move around). Is there anyway you could fit a cage into a different (larger) space?

I agree about the min. size but someone gave me a link to a cage that was 38x38 that is bigger than I want.
I don't plan on going with the min. size just not the size for a big macaw.
I had a full size macaw with the really big cage.
Also I am home all day so the bird will be out most of the day not in the cage. :)

If you end up with a Senegal a smaller cage is ok.

The mini macaws are much more active and prone to plucking so I would say you need a larger cage even if they aren't in it much.

All 3 of my guys have huge cages. My spare room is my bird room.

I'm not a fan of the playtop, but it's definitely better sized!

Can't help but wonder if you have room for a 30x30 cage... even if it may not be built as well as some other cages.

It would be tight but with out the seed guard it should fit. I just don't want to move my other birds cage to close to the window because we live in Las Vegas & the sun is very hot by the windows in the summer. It would be going next to the other cage & I wanted some room in between the 2 of them.

I posted another cage that is bigger. I appreciate everyone helping with finding the right size cage.
This is why I asked before I get a cage. Thank you

These are on the lines of what I am looking for just smaller.
They are really nice cages. I like the brown one. Does the top open on that one?
I don't have room for that big of a cage.

Yes Robin, The top of cage does open up, But I dont open it up, as it would bang on the light, My Senegal is in the brown cage ( color is sandstone) she has a nice door on front of her cage and a big door at the bottom . I like her cage as the front door makes a nice perch , when shes out of cage 006.JPG

My gcc cage is 21 By 27by 48 high and she uses every bit of the space . It has legs with wheels so I can move it around . Maybe you can go tall to get optimal space.

The taller the cage, the less space that most birds end up using.... so taller really isn't a very good idea....

A family of cockatiels was given to me in this horrible ferret cage, like 18 x 18 x 36 or so.... they only used the top 1/3 or less of the cage, which meant that everything down below was wasted space.

You can always attach a platform to the outside of the cage near the door or attach it directly to the door inside. I have cages that open on the top and I never open the top. Marvelous cages have a swing out door with a platform door inside but the company is out of business. I like the idea of the sort of 2 doors in one concept.
The Chiquita is a nice cage for Senegal sized bird. I have red-bellies in a few Chiquitas. I attached a platform on the inside of the door for some of them so that when the door swings out they have the platform outside.

I like the play tops because I have a dog & this gives the birds a play area & safe place to play & hang out. I know they can fly down but they are never out unsupervised. My dog wants to play with them & smell them but I don't trust him alone with them. It only takes a second for something to go wrong. He has been trained from 6 weeks to not touch the birds. He lays be their cages & if they make a funny noise he will go make sure they are okay. I must have a play top cage. :)

Thank you that does make sense about the taller cages. I moved the sun conure in a larger cage but it is taller & she doesn't use it. She looks lost in it. So wider is better than taller.

You could also turn a flat top or dome top cage into a playtop, using your own design! :)

The Avian Adventures play tops are nice because the play top is removable and you can move it off the cage and have your bird sit on it away from the cage.
