Hi everyone!
I got this bird cage with the thought of adopting a Rainbow Lorikeet.... unfortunately that didn't work out.
Now I'm looking for another feathered friend! I had my heart set on a Cockatiel, but I'm not sure if my cage is suitable. The dimensions are:
34" high (not including the play top)
32" wide
23" deep
1" bar spacing

Let me know what feathered friends can fit! Hoping for something that will be easily tamed, and not horribly loud.

Easily tamed is dependent on each bird and it's past....
Horribly loud is subjective.

The bar spacing is too wide for a cockatiel.

Thank you.
Well, just a bird that is known to be a bit quieter? I own a detached home, so no neighbors to worry about! But I don't want anything that is insanely loud

Pretty much most birds that are going to fit into 1 inch spacing are going to be louder. Mini macs, timneh greys, small cockatoos, small amazons, etc.

About the only birds I can think of that might work are greater jardines, and larger pionus.

I guess I might have to look into selling this cage and getting a more suitable one.... most of thoes birds are hard to find in my area. Not to mention the prices might give my hubby a heart attack!

Honestly I would look into selling this cage. The bar spacing is pretty big and the size bird you would need for that bar spacing would make the cage pretty small.

I would find the perfect bird for your family and then buy a suitable cage for the bird rather than trying to find a bird to fit the cage :)

I would double check the cage bar spacing. It's a great size cage for a cockatiel, if it wasn't for the bar spacing.

Yeah, like everyone else said, the bar spacing is too big for a cockatiel.

This is definitely what I'm looking to do! Trade it or sell it...... it was too good of a price to pass up.

31" long x 14" wide by 23" high.

Would this cage be okay for a Cockatiel?

Um, no offense intended, but usually one meets one's future companion bird and then one gets the cage. Precisely because of bar spacing and cage size. Sorry.

I was supposed to be getting a Rainbow Lorikeet, but unfortunately he got sick at the rescue, and ended up passing away due to some complications.

So the cage was intended for him.... but now that I'm not adopting him I'm looking to get a bird still.

Cockatiels need at least 18" in any direction minimum because of their wingspan.

Never put the cart before the horse.

We don't get birds based on a cage we might have. We get the bird first and get an appropriate cage based on that.

Yes I realize this.... again I got the cage for the bird I was supposed to be adopting! Then he unfortunately got sick at the rescue and passed away. I didn't want the cage to go to waste as I do want to own a bird!

As I've stated up above, looks like I'll be selling it and getting a Cockatiel appropriate cage now. Since that's the bird I have decided would suit my life
