Little missy does not like having her butt photographed. Does it look like I'm right about her and eggs? Yen's butt is nowhere near as big as Triss'.

Thanks for the link! As much as I don't want to have chicks, the thought of boiling one alive inside of the egg just makes my skin crawl. I know there are good reasons for doing it, but it's not for me.

If any are fertile, I have family who live nearby who could take them once they're weaned. If they're not, they're not, and I'm taking away her nesthut after this clutch.
It is really difficult I agree! My ducks sat on eggs, I really don’t want babies so I take them away and replace them. If I do it that quickly no life can form:)

Triss is an agapornis personata:)

No idea about the eggs though, both of my boys are male thankfully!

I don't quite want babies myself. I mean, she's gorgeous and I do have family who would take in the eggs, but at this point, I think her eggs would likely be infertile anyways. I looked it up and the info I found said ten days, and it's already been more than that. I guess I won't have to worry about boiling the eggs once the time comes.

Lucky bum. :p I have two other girls here, but knock on wood I won't have any further issues with eggs.

But, I've moved Geralt's cage closer to her for some company, and now that I have their cages side by side, Triss can't get enough of Geralt. She won't stop trying to get close to him and get his attention, even with her big egg butt. I might just leave them both down here overnight in their own cages, since I'd feal like a bit of a jerk moving his cage when she seems utterly smitten by him.

Can't wait to move into the bigger room and have all my birds togetherrr in one place.

Is it possible Geralt and Triss are actually a bonded pair, and their old owners were just dumb? She left her nest to perch next to him when I moved their cages together. She keeps displaying for him and is a lot quieter now that I left their cages together tonight. All I hear coming from their cages is happy beak grinding now that they're together under one blanket. :sad4: Checked on them and Geralt is sleeping under his favourite sleeping spot just to be closer to her.

It's possible...

Any way you can move his sleeping place a little further down?

Yes, I definitely can do that in the morning. He's got a comfortable rope perch beneath it, but he likes sleeping in his wicker dish which is a few bar spaces above it. I have a larger (but still relatively small) wicker basked I could also try to give her, but I'm worried about her getting stuck in it or considering it as a new nest It's much deeper than his wicker dish he has. Geralt does have two shallower ones, but he uses the second one to get around and play with his bell.

I'm starting to wonder now if she wasn't the one who messed up his tailfeathers. Considering they both look like they may have been grabbed and the rough way I saw them handling her, along with the way they're currently interacting, I'm starting to really wonder what went on there. They're desperate to be back with one another, and it's definitely mutual. Now that they're caged side by side, they're absolutely as quiet as could be. All of his injuries could have easily come from being grabbed by a person and not a bird.

Me neither??? I should have known something was up. She was absolutely fine with him perching on her cage, even next to her nest and kept on calling loudly whenever Geralt was out of sight. Guzma went over to see her a few times out of curiosity, and she immediately rushed him away and never once tried to flirt with him.

:sad5: Shoooooot, I'm going to make sure the other birds are out of the room and try letting them both out of their cages tomorrow, just to see how they act without the bars. If they are a pair, it's going to be so much easier making sure she's fed and has water with him there.

I mean, I couldn't even type too loud last night without her getting mad. Now that they're together, she's not even remotely disturbed, even with me listening to things on the 'puter down low.

Guess what I had to clean up today. :wideyed: It was worse than cleaning the one she left in my hair. At least I could just wash that one out without putting my hands near it.

They hung out a little today, too. She was very happy to see him, but as he was afraid of me, he spent most of his time high up where she couldn't get at.

But, she at least hopped up onto my head after a serious cuddle and scritches session.

Working on building some trust with Geralt (I was holding the millet), when suddenly

Triss came over to join us for some eats.

'I'm onto you...'

I was trying to lure him closer to get a better look at his foot, but SOMEONE decided she didn't feel like sharing the drugs with him. :angel2:
Thankfully, his foot is looking better and he's using it just fine. I'm still going to bring it up to the vet once I bring him in to have his band removed. It's strange that he bit his non-banded leg so badly, but I'm thinking he may have caught his band on something and just panicked.
Not sure what he could have gotten it caught on, though. The only thing I saw blood on (besides him) was his natural branch perch.

And more good news for these two; Geralt's foot is looking much better, he took a nice, long shower, and it looks like Triss laid her egg/s. I can't quite see in the nest, but she's pooping much more often, they're much smaller, she's much more active, and her vent is no longer swollen. I'm not sure if she's going to lay any more eggs, but here's hoping that she won't.

They're definitely bonded, though. He likes to spend most of his day near her and she calls him if he's not on her cage. He only leaves her alone to go chasing after Yen. They still have their own separate cages, though I'm thinking of trying to put them together once she's no longer protecting her eggs.

Same, Tiki! I was so so worried that she'd be aggressive with my other birds and family members, but everything's coming up roses. Triss and Yen get along well enough to 'share' me and are absolutely fine perching together, Triss isn't afraid of being picked up or getting pets in the cage, and she just fits right in.

Oh my God. The people I got these two from have ANOTHER Lovebird. Where do they keep getting all these birds from? This is the third lovebird they've sold under three weeks.

And he's not even the same species, so he can't be her baby. Same address, I recognize the furniture in some of the pictures.
These people are just constantly buying and selling lovebirds.

He was NOT there when I went to get Triss or Geralt, and neither was his cage.

Where are they getting them?????????????? They can't be making money off of this. I got Geralt and Triss for 60$ each, and this guy's selling for the same price, which is half of what you'd spend in store.

............. hell no. That is Terrible. That lovebird looks so sweet and innocent, I am so sorry for him. What the heck are they doing? They sounded like ignorant people trying to get babies, but why did they buy(?) and are know selling this bird?! It’s frustrating. Do they State why they are selling him?

I have no idea what they're doing, but this is beyond terrible. When I bought Geralt, they said Triss was their first and they only bought Geralt because she was laying and they didn't 'want her efforts to go to waste' and wanted to breed them. I just don't understand, she had a round cage about 1/4th of that size and no toys or cuttlebone or anything, and he looks like he has a bunch of toys and a nice large cage?

They don't say why they're selling him, this is the ad translated to english;

Young male green-turquoise peachfaced lovebird. 8 months old.
Price: 60$ non-negotiable.
No deliveries.

He's not even OLD enough TO breed.
