Hmmm - will apples do ok that far South? Peaches only make it about once every five years here - they get frozen.

The landscaper recommended apples. We’re in the northern panhandle of FL. He has two varieties so they can cross pollinate.

Our apple and pear trees are full of flowers, our peach trees need the weather to stabilize before perking up.
Beautiful! Get pics when you get a chance!

Ooh, figs! We had 3 apple, 2 plum, 2 cherry, and 2 pear trees at the old house. Just planted 3 trees here (1 peach & 2 cherry), and M is trying to propagate blueberries from cuttings from our old bushes. Honestly, we always ended up with too many plums, pears, and apples, and not enough cherries before! So much so that a random old man was stopping by our house and stealing fruit off the trees.

Nice!!! We had 7. Always had plenty of fruit from them! One of my conure's favorite foods (and the wild birds, too).
Did you give them plant food?

No, just good compost. We have a worm bin we use to compost food scraps, and we pick up horse manure from local farms. They like coffee grounds too.
thank you Lindsay! :)
does the bin attract rats?

No, just flies on occasion if the wrong food goes in. It's a closed three tier bin atop three legs that are about a foot in height. Sadly, our worm colony that we've had since 2007 died off recently due to not weather proofing the bin over the winter. We got a new delivery of worms a few weeks ago.
