I haven't posted in a long time. I just rescued a white belly that was abandoned at the pet store I work st a few days ago. She seemed healthy but refuses to sleep abd instead screams all day and all night. Very very friendly bird and eats drinks poops normally. No nasal discharge, no fever. This morning she has some very light bruising on her eyelids and she is Sooo tired. Still breathing normally I have her sleeping in a small carrier now. I cannot grt off work today to take her to the vet but has anyone ever heard of a bird becoming so sleep deprived that their behavior mimics illness? I know she has had a rough few days at least. I just want to make sure she is alright.

I'm glad you could help this bird and brought her home not your home. I would try to get to a qualified vet today, she sounds very sick. Please keep us updated!

A bird who dosent sleep and screams all day and night could be in pain, but can't tell you. She may have exhausted herself and finally slept..get her in asap. Thank you for caring.

Sorry that your WBC is not well. Thank you for taking her into your home and agree with others that you should take her to the vet.

I was able to get her to the vet during my lunch break. It turns out she is extremely sick. My vet cannot say for certain without further testing but at the current moment they do not want to do more testing until she is more stable. I decided in her best interest to relinquish her to the vet so that one of the nurses can adopt her as I currently cannot afford the care that she would need (My father just passed and it had a major effect on the finances). THey are going to give me updates on her condition and hopefully she makes a full recovery!

I'm so sorry she's sick, and that you had to give her up. It was commendable of you to know that it was the right thing to do. Also it was nice that the vet tech could take her. Keep us updated on what they say!

You know, sometimes rescuing means letting them move on to a home that is a better situation for the bird. It's a quite selfless act, and you did it. Way to go!

Also I'm sorry for the loss of your father. :sadhug2:

Bad news this morning. They tried their best but unfortunately the baby didn't make it. She had no physical signs of illness so they are saying very low likelyhood it was contagious but I am bringing the other birds in to get checked after I get paid on friday just incase. The staff was very nice and thanked me for trying for a bird I barely knew but I still feel so much sadness for her.

I wish I knew who left her on the shelf at my store. I wish I could just give them 's good smack.

I am so sorry. You did your best. And I want to smack the person who abandoned that sweet baby myself.
