I love threads like this.
The second link refers to the D3 conversion in human skin.

So does the first one. I don’t have any bird specific info

Yeah, Mr Stanford has done a lot of studies on parrots and nutrition and he's well qualified to do so.
The D3 is being synthesized by the sun. What am I missing?
You wouldn't be missing anything if we were talking about humans. In parrots the chemistry and mechanics are totally different.
Did you notice the reference to dietary supplements and realise how careful we should be using these lamps with birds that get supplements?

*edit*
My babies get 40 minutes per day, only because they hardly eat any seed mix.

Actually I’m going to quit arguing... I just want D3 for my guys and being nit picky about the range of the uvb wavelength isn’t helpful. :D

Fantastic pics! They’re enjoying themselves :dance4: love it!
Love the curtain too! :)

They got too hot and wouldn’t come in!! I sprayed them then teetered on the three step ladder and picked them off! Jack would have been so mad to see me on the ladder!

Saroj! I finally saw dirt on the floor! Yours is always so clean.

This is why I never post pix, mine always has dirt. Even the day I clean.

@Ripshod excellent article. And one I hadn't seen before, yay!

Yes he would! The last time I tried that I fell. Didn't hurt myself but had a panic attack lol.

I need to video myself carrying cages out, timing, carrying back in/ out again with the next batch. I'm sure it's like watching a cartoon.

I commend you for the effort!
