He was opening his beak wide and closing it and groaning. He’s all perked up now. Not sure what to do next

Is there any pattern to when it happens? If he keeps doing it, I might consider a choanal swab/culture to check for fungal growth. Or you could do bloodwork, but I don't know if he'd tolerate something that invasive when he's having these breathing issues.

The techs are coming on Sunday... they should be able to handle a choanal swab, no?

I would think so, but give them a heads up so they can have a sample kit along!

We leave ours at 5 but do what you feel comfortable with.

We used to throw in a bunch of toys and food and Rosie didn't mind a bit.

She said she’s done one before and will pick up the kit before they come.

Make sure you specify that you want cultures for both bacteria and fungus. They do two different preps.

Poor Jackson... I covered him up and he was beak grinding when I remembered his bedtime dose. Now he is all upset with that awful taste in his mouth!
