Pictures Vanessa Is Very Ill With "Hole In The Wen"-warning- could be too graphic for some

This is Vanessa, a beautiful fantail Oranda

I have been nursing her for a couple days now. I am giving her Baytril injections every day for five days. And all the goldies are on medi-gold food for at least two weeks.
The best I have been able to determine is a disease they call 'hole in the wen'. I am not sure what caused it, but the common gf that was in the tank for a very short time, was hitting her in that same spot. That may have allowed bacteria to get into the spot. Then it healed over, but the damage was done deep inside. It is bad..really bad. You can see the black that shows also underneath the hole. At one point it looked so deep and round you could have stuck a pencil in there. It is actually starting to look a little better, and she seems perkier since I started the injections. I am not sure if she will pull through. I feel I am giving her the best chance I can though.

Thank you. I really do not think I can do more than I am doing. I am giving Baytril injections at one 10th of a CC per day for five days. Tomorrow is day three. The Medi gold has medicine in it to assist with eliminating the bacterial infection, and anything the others may have been exposed to. I am familiar with WWM. Good site.

Keep in mind that fish can easily have their immunity stripped, and you don't want to go overboard. It is pretty easy to harm their internal organs permanently, particularly liver/kidneys.
