<UPDATE BLOODWORK>Tequila is not feeling well - Update post 293

Last night when I put Tequila to bed he seemed more quiet than usual. Bells were going off in my head and I didnt sleep well worrying about him. This morning he is not eating or drinking and seems to be a little weak. His beak is slightly open when he is breathing and one wing is sitting higher than the other. I have food and water in the bottom of his cage. I gave him a little bit of corn syrup on his tongue and have been giving him drops of water on my finger. I have an email out to BF, Gary and Bonnie. I am going to call our vet in a few minutes. We dont have an avian vet here. Our dog vet I am not sure if they see birds. Another vet does see birds, I will take him there. Pray she is on call. Prayers for Tequila would be appreciated. I am sick to my stomach.

if his beak is open he's definitely suffering from sort of respiratory distress..please let us know what happens..many positive thoughts coming his way

Pat, I am so sorry.

I am hoping Tequila gets to a vet asap that can help you.

Do you have a little hospital cage for him? Do you have a heating pad?

Thanks everyone. I am fighting back tears, my birds are never sick. He is perching on his herb dish right now. I am about to call the vets. I hope our dog vet can see him. Danita I can make a hospital cage out of one of the travel cages and yes I have a heating pad. I will update shortly.

Work on your hospital cage as a way of keeping your panic under control.
Other tips you may already know:
So Tequila will be warm on the way to the vets, take some lentils/rice and put them in a ziplock baggie. Before you go, microwave for about 3 minutes. Wrap it in a kitchen tea towel and place under a towel in the travel/hospital cage. Tequila isn't used to going to the vets, so he might be scared. Make sure he sees nothing and is covered on all sides.
You probably know all this, but just a reminder and to help you focus.

The vet called me back and will see him at 9:30 this morning. Got his travel cage all ready and I will microwave his heating pad one more time before we leave. Please keep us in your prayers.

Sure is a lot scarier being on this end of the 911. Hubby is pulling car around and warming it up. Tequila is in his travel cage with his heating pad although now he is clinging to the side of the cage. I will update you guys when I get back. Thanks for the support.
