Two in a fay

Edit: damnit. Misspelled the title, meant day not fay.

I have no idea what happened, banjo went first. He was fine when I checked on him first then in the morning but around an hour later he was on the floor of his cage, dead. We thought boomer might’ve killed him at first, maybe they fought over food. But they never drew blood over a fight before. When I picked up Banjos corpse he was still warm, and there were no markings so I don’t know what killed him. Later on that day Boomer was flying around, cuddling with people, he seemed perfectly healthy. But when I opened his cage this morning... he was dead. I’ve checked for gas leaks, carbon monoxide, something they might’ve eaten, lack of food or water but there’s no telling signs. I don’t think I’ll ever know how they passed but I know they died happy.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Losing one fid is bad enough but losing 2 back to back is miserable. :sadhug2: :sadhug2:

I'd suggest you have them autopsied so you know what happened to them. More so if you plan on getting more fids. If you know what killed them you'll also know how thoroughly you need to clean the cage or what to avoid.

So sorry for your loss. I would recommend having a necropsy/necropsies done to see if you can find out why they passed. Was there any change in food?
nowhere in my town to have that done

Check to see if they had access to their food and water.

See if you forgot to rinse something.

Was it a new bag of food? Maybe contaminated?

Was there something being sprayed in the area, bug spray, any aerosol like hair spray, something burning (leaves outdoors)?

Necropsy would answer your questions - put body in fridge not freezer until tomorrow when they are open.

Wow.....how horrible, I'm so sorry. It would be so helpful if you could have your vet do a necropsy on them so you would no what killed them. It would give you peace of mind and also help immensely if it were to be toxins from food because then you would know and could warn others. So many reasons that a necropsy are helpful.

Just awful so sorry for your little buddies. It had to have been something they both got into or exposed to I'd think. Some angels come with wings. R.I.P

Oh how horrible, I’m so very sorry!:sorrow: That’s so incredibly heartbreaking. I hope you can figure out what it was. It seems mist likely that it was something in the air or something they ate.

Our neighbours have their yard sprayed with pesticides and it drives me nuts cause in summer I'll find myself zooming through the house closing windows.
