I agree that you should let the breeder know and ask if any others are sick. If they aren't, you can investigate around the house to make sure everything is safe - no teflon (space heaters, especially, but frying pans, hair dryers, coffee makers, waffle irons, bread makers, etc, etc), chemicals in new carpet or other construction, scented candles, aerosol sprays, almost anything with a strong or perfumey scent. You just want to be sure it's safe so it doesn't happen again if you decide to get another bird.

Yes finding out what was wrong can go a long way to healing your sadness and heartbreak. It could have been that something was wrong that you could do nothing about and worth knowing for sure. He is not suffering and is now at peace and flying high. He will be looking over you and will always be by your side. God bless.
