911 Tony the Budgieriar in bad shape!!Need advice and help pronto!! **Sad Update**

This morning I went to check on my birds and Tony was lying on the bottom of the cage (he shares this cage with another budgie and a GCC) and he couldn't get up. He was holding onto the bottom of the cage, but he couldn't really walk or anything.

We're looking for an avian vet right now. We thought there was one nearby but apparently they closed down and the only other vet nearby doesn't "do" birds.

I just need to know what I can do to help him while I continue to look for a doctor.

He is weak, and lethargic. He also seems to be breathing a little irregularly and he won't drink any water. He's unusually calm about me handling him (none of his usual pinning...he's not hand tamed) and I'm scared shizzless right now.

Tony passed away a few moments ago.
He opened his eyes really big... seemed to be tracking something with his gaze... and then flew from me in a panic.
I ran to him and he was lying on the floor flapping...
I scooped him back up and held him and he stiffened and stopped breathing....and his little feet curled in and that was it.

He's got a mate, and I don't know if I should show her the body or not.
I don't know what to do.

OH no I am so sorry about this happening. If this were me I would show the other bird his little body. This is a decision that should come from your heart. How old was Tony?

I'm not sure. I bought the budgies from petco and the records kept on them were really insufficient.
From what we could tell they were young adults... maybe just grown from adolescence.
I only went there to get one, but they were obviously bonded and I couldn't stand the idea of leaving them both there... the people there were just feeding them millet, and they had no idea how old they were. Tony and Pearl had clearly never been handled and they are still not hand tamed.
I was making progress though. He'd started to land on me, and even to groom me occasionally....

I just feel like it would be wrong to take him away and bury him, and for her to never know what happened.

I'm scared for Pearl now too. Her scere has been brown for a while, and when I asked and researched I was told its a hormonal thing, but now Tony's gone and I'm wondering if maybe it's been brown for too long.

I just realised I only assumed they were young because they never tried to breed and they seemed active... and I suppose I don't figure they'd have survived to be old in a place like that.
They were definitely already adults when we got them.

He's got a dark green band.
It's an open band someone clamped onto his leg.
I tried googling the numbers and letters on it (bfd 1911)

It looks like he may have been much older than we thought, because if he was imported it was before the ban... that or he was someone's pet before petco.

I'm gonna take him in to Pearl now.
I'll probably check in.

I'm seriously wrecked right now... I'm really worried about how Pearl is going to get along without him.

I'm sorry. Show the mate the body for an hour or two then take it away.

If she is now a solitary bird you will need to get a new buddy. The best chance of a successful match is to look for a bird that has the same physical characteristics as the bird that died (Gender. Colour. Not necessarily age but be sure it is an adult).

The budgies kind of raised our baby conjure. So, they and the conjure are really close, and share a cage. I don't know if he'll be sufficient company for her.

If there are other birds in the home then you have to play it by ear. Give it some time. What you need to do will reveal itself.

Pearl ran away from the body and seems to be looking for something. She keeps climbing under the Cag's cage and trying to dig and burrow under the newspaper there.

Quijote kissed and pecked and shoved the body around. Then he wandered off.
