. I have alreay gone to let him out twice and feed him once since he's been gone.
Now I can't stop crying. I'll ask my guys to help Barney on the other side of the bridge til we get there.
This is a piece from a poem I wrote back in 1994 when my old Schnauzer mix, Scottie, passed. Sadly, my memory has lost some of this one and all written copies are gone...
SCOTTIE
Did it hurt you to leave me,
Does it hurt you now?
Or did you take my love,
With you somehow?
What is your heaven?
Your eternal life?
Is it happy? and loving?
Is it free from all strife?
I pray, in your heaven,
Painful memories are gone.*
That you face each new day,
In the light of God's dawn.
Perhaps, in your heaven,
I'm always there.
So you'll spend eternity,
In my loving care.
I love you so much,
I miss your dear face.
You are my Best Boy,
No other dog could replace.
The future may bring,
Many dogs I'll call mine.
But you're the one,
Who will live,
In my heart,
For all time.
(for Scottie, thanks for letting me be your Mom for the last seven years)
